Report back from the Havana International Book Fair (and more!!)

Join Tony Ryan, longtime bookseller and Cuba solidarity activist, speak on last February’s Havana International Book Fair, offer general impressions on the situation in Cuba today, and promote the upcoming visit of Cuban poet Nancy Morejon to the SF Bay Area.
Tony will be discussing the ongoing, important work of NANCY MOREJON, WHO WILL BE IN THE SF BAY AREA FROM JUNE 1ST UNTIL JUNE 16TH.
Morejon is perhaps the best known and most widely translated woman poets of revolutionary Cuba. Born in 1944 in Havana to a militant sailor / longshoreman father and trade unionist activist / seamstress mother, Morejón graduated from the University of Havana in the early 1960s, where she majored in French, She went on to become the first black woman to be widely published and acknowledged worldwide as one of Cuba’s most important poets.
As well, Morejon is a leading critic, essayist, editor, translator and cultural activist in Cuba today.
