NOW FOR THE FEATURES
For January, Queer Open Mic is featuring two local artists that both do very interesting and passionate work:
DANIEL REDMAN is a queer San Francisco-based composer and performer. For the last seven years, he has been setting poems from Walt Whitman’s queer epic Leaves of Grass to music. His project has been profiled in Lambda Literary, the SF Bay Times, and Tablet. He has performed at SOMArts, Congregation Sha’ar Zahav, the San Francisco Public Library, Smack Dab, and in many homes throughout the Bay Area and East Coast. In addition to performing, Redman is a journalist and elder law attorney. His writing has appeared in The Advocate, The Nation, Slate, and elsewhere. He is also chair of the legal working group for the San Francisco LGBT Aging Policy Task Force.
TIM XONNELLY has been writing & performing poetry since the early 1980′s. His chapbooks are Velcro Heart (1989) A Season In Bed (1998) and I skip the long ones too (2004). He has work forthcoming in Fustercluck Zine.
