Psyche of Mirrors – Carolyn Mary Kleefeld
Sunday, February 10, 2013 @ 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Join Modern Times and author/poet/artist Carolyn Mary Kleefeld as we celebrate the release of “Psyche of Mirrors: A Promenade of Portraits,” an illustrated collection of delightfully engaging mythological fables, short stories, poetry and short essays
In her Foreword, Laura Archera Huxley, late wife of Aldous Huxley, writes, “Carolyn Kleefeld is an explorer of the most extraordinary dimensions, which she gracefully connects with a natural ease. In ‘Psyche’, we find ourselves traveling through portraits that open the gates to our experiential understanding and offer surprising paths to our complex and fantastic inner worlds.” The writings and art are organized by theme, ranging from psychological explorations into the darker side of human nature, to reflections on the polarities in life, to journeys of whimsical fancy. Chapter titles include “Challenges to living in the present”, “Paradoxical poses” and “the quest for harmony” and “Odd and interesting couples.” Enchanting pen and black ink drawings add a visual dimension to the themes.

“Psyche of Mirrors” is a magical multitude of nurturing voices and playful hands for your own soul’s promenade – a romp kindled through with eros and its tumults. Hers is the dialogue we all engage in, one way or another, the one between the world as it presents itself visibly, and the world as it whispers and roars invisibly into our soul, upsetting all our best laid plans, troubling us, but also lifting us in rapture.
