Original Plumbing’s HERO issue

Celebrate the release of Original Plumbing’s HERO issue, with readings by Amos Mac, Rocco “Katastrophe” Kayiatos, Jamison Green, James Darling, Tyler Fong, and Josh Klipp.
This 90-page issue of Original Plumbing honors a number of trailblazers who set a precedent for what trans communities are built upon as well as those who continue to create change today. Including a special section celebrating the life of Lou Sullivan, we showcase the FTM International newsletter he launched in 1986 by featuring a spread of their earliest covers through the years, republished for the first time since its initial printing.
Amos Mac lives and works in New York as a photographer, writer and publisher. His images have appeared in The New York Times, Interview, Vogue Italia, BUTT Magazine, and OUT. As a writer Mac has contributed to his self-published titles (Original Plumbing and Translady Fanzine), as well as to Candy and The Huffington Post.
Rocco “Katastrophe” Kayiatos is an artist, entertainer, activist and educator. He has released 4 full length albums, his first “Let’s F#*K, Then Talk About My Problems” in 2004, becoming the first open FTM transsexual musician to release an album. He was awarded Producer of the Year for “Let’s F#*K…” by The Out Music Awards. He has been featured in several documentaries including the 2006 documentary Pick Up The Mic, the (r)Evolution of Homo Hop. His music has been featured Showtime’s The L Word. He is also the co-editor of Original Plumbing.
Jamison Green is an internationally respected author, educator, and advocate for transgender civil rights, health, and social safety. Architect of the community’s efforts to reform health insurance coverage, he is also President-Elect of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health, and author of ‘Becoming a Visible Man.’ He’s one of the world’s most visible and influential trans men.
James Darling is a transsexual male adult model, performer and sex worker based in the Bay Area. He won Feminist Porn Awards Heartthrob of the Year 2012 and Transguys.com Sex Performer of the Year 2010 for his work across multiple porn genres. James is also the owner and director of FTMFUCKER.com, an award winning porn site dedicated to trans men. He can be found on twitter and tumblr at jamesdarlingxxx.
Tyler Fong holds the current title of American Leatherboy 2011. It is the only national Leather title that is exclusively gay. He is a Fraternal Member of The 15 Association, an all male BDSM organization based out of San Francisco with members from arcoss the world. He researched S/M through reading for a few years then stepped into a dungeon at Foward Motion, an FTM conference in 1999 and then went to his first organized BDSM event in 2001. He works in health care and plays French horn in the East Bay area.
Josh Klipp is a San Francisco based writer, jazz singer, choreographer and flash mob producer. In 2013 he created and produced two evening length dance performances with his company, Freeplay Dance Crew, and also developed several educational flash mobs for the California Academy of Science’s Youth Ambassador Program. Additionally, his jazz band, the Klipptones, featured at Union Square and are currently in a summer residency at San Francisco’s historic Palace Hotel.
