Wednesday, January 23, 2013 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Revolution Will Be Accompanied By Stamps!

A Stamp Making Workshop hosted by HAVOQ’s Prisoner Solidarity Workgroup and California Coalition of Women Prisoners

Wed, January 23, 2013
Modern Times Bookstore
6 – 8pm

Letters are often the vehicle we use to cross the prison walls. Well let’s make ourselves some glamorous envelopes! At this month’s meeting of the HAVOQ Prisoner Penpal Night, join us for a stamp making workshop where you will design, make, and take home stamps to spruce up your letters, cards and biceps. We hope to send CCWP and HAVOQ home with new stamp collections to use for prisoner mail, though you can make some designs for yourself as well. Please bring money to donate for supplies (esp if you want to make stamps for yourself) and designs to work from will be very helpful (pencil drawings and somewhat fresh prints or copies can be transferred onto the carving surface directly.)

And of course, we will also be writing letters! HAVOQ’s monthly prisoner penpal night is every 4th wednesday at Modern Times. Please invite friends, family and anyone who might be interested in finding a penpal. There are many, many queer and trans prisoners who would love to be your penpal. Come on out!

CCWP will also be available to answer any questions about the upcoming Chowchilla Freedom Rally. Whether or not you can join for the stampmaking and letterwriting this month, please join us the following Saturday for this important prisoner solidarity event!
