Hasta La Victoria: El Salvador’s 2014 Presidential Elections Report Back
Friday, February 21, 2014 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Bay Area CiSPES and FMLN delegates from the first round of the 2014 Presidential Elections of El Salvador on February 2, 2014, will be reporting back on observing the first round of the historic elections. Highlighting how truly historic these elections are through past context of other elections with U.S. intervention and voter fraud by the right wing party, to the now accessible and transparent elections process that has made it not only a participatory democracy but accessible through residential voting in all districts of El Salvador.
Hear from delegates on the importance of the elections, and what may be at risk since the historic victory the FMLN made by becoming the first left wing party to take office in 2009 after the long dictatorial rule of the right wing.
With the FMLN just shy of meeting the 50% + 1 vote for the win with their 49.1% of votes this last round, will El Salvador be at risk of losing the gains made if the Frente doesn’t win?
